[ CHILDHOOD ]

growing up, mental health diagnosis, struggles of neglect

chad was born in boston massachusetts on june 22nd 1981 to upper class parents julian and genevive warwick. he was the second child following his five year old brother jordan. carol would join the warwicks a year later making chad the middle child of the family.there was never a true "want" for anything other than normalcy and love, as mr. and mrs. warwick were quite well off. chad's father was a scientist working for a rather large corporation, well his mother was a sought after defense attorney. despite their ability to provide for their children in abundance, the warwicks were absent parents. chad and his siblings were left in the care of nanny delilah richards, who had been with the family since jordan's birth. chad and delilah never got along, he made his dislike for her quite clear from day one.because of their parents absence, jordan would step up and become a pseudo parent to his brother and sister, remembering birthdays, attending events, watching over their wellbeing. chad held his older brother in high regard and would be deeply saddened when jordan would eventually leave home years later.

the money and status meant the schooling had to be top notch. like his brother chad would attend an all boys private school, which turned out to be completely short lived. from a young age chad just knew he was gay, and exhibited interest in "femininity." this got his fellow classmates harassing him, shaming him for being queer. as a result a ten year old chad eventually lashed out and nearly beat his bully to death. this was not the first time chad had shown signs of serious aggression. as a result of the incident chad was expelled from his all boy school and forced into a doctors office where he would be soon diagnosed with intermittent explosive disorder. chad would spend the rest of his life battling incontrollable anger, managed by his anti depressants.this was the beginning of the end of chad relationship with his parents. on account of his outburst, mr and mrs. warwick learned that their son saw himself as gay, a fact they were very displeased with. when they confronted chad about it they learned what it was like to be on the receiving end of chads anger. since then, chad's words to his parents only consisted of polite pleasantries whenever appropriate. his parents would offer him the same. as far as chad and his parents were concerned, neither existed to the other.

rebellion, estrangement from his siblings, falling off the deep end, substance use

when his older brother left at the ripe age of eighteen in 1993, chad began to slip off the deep end. jordan was gone, his dad was gone. who would be there for him now? the barely twelve year old was truly all alone. it was just him and carol now.jordan came home the following christmas and things were surprisingly okay. well, that was, until they weren't. jordan couldn't stay forever and he was gone as quickly as he had come. chad turned thirteen in june and felt the entire world on his shoulders. he needed something. if he wasn't going to get any good attention from his parental figures, perhaps he could get some bad attention. it was with that thought in mind he went after other kinds of stimulation.his teen years were filled with turmoil and many regrets. chad would indulge in a whole world of substances, from cigarettes' (very short lived) to the occasional shot of cocaine. he would smoke weed daily, and go to parties his peers would host. he would consume alcohol until he was sick, and come home late, stinking of booze and regret.his insomnia got worse due to the substances and constant states of hangovers that he turned to prescription sleeping pills just to get some blessed sleep. these would be abused among the pain killers he would take to control the migraines from the alcohol and neglecting his own medications. this would increase his ied outbursts.his grades were suffering too. chad would skip school often to get high and be late multiple times for taking too many sleeping pills and knocking him into a mini coma. and all the while mr. and mrs. warwick stood idly by and did nothing. even when chad got a tattoo and stumbled in at an ungodly hour. they were fine to watch him get sick at 3am, fine to watch him be late for school, and simply not bat an eye when chad brought home constant red pen marked papers.the ignorance only made chad worse, practically near throwing his entire future away all for a rise. luckily for him, his parents decided to interfere a few months before chad's sixteenth birthday. they knew the only person who could help was their older son jordan.

chad's anger at jordan had only grown over the years. since that first christmas jordan hadn't shown face at any family gatherings or holidays. a rational part of him could not blame his brother for staying away. but, the bitterness and resentment was winning out. jordan left him. naturally his older brother was beyond furious when he called chad on the telephone that rainy april day. needless to say, chad gave the older warwick a piece of his mind.he blamed jordan for him turning out this way. he shouted that maybe if his brother hadn't left he wouldn't have to resort to recklessness for attention. chad told jordan how dare he call now when he could have reached out years ago. ultimately chad told his older brother to go fuck himself. this would be the last time chad would ever speak to his brother.chad was left to think about the person he was becoming, and how un-worth it it actually was for him. people sucked, connections were pointless. you always got stabbed in the back by those you thought were closest to you. that night chad threw away his sleeping pills after taking enough to potentially put him to sleep permanently. he woke up the next day with the worst migraine of his life and decided now was the time for change.he got rid of the weed and all other traces of that past dalliance. he threw out most of his pain killers but one, and swore on his life he wouldn't go off his meds so recklessly again. fuck everyone and their opinions of him. chad was who he was, and that's who was going to be.chad put himself back on track and shut out most of the white noise around him, (including carol, his baby sister; who had been so distraught over who chad had become these past years.) and focused back on school and less on other matters. the best thing for him would be to work hard so he could get the fuck out of boston and on to better things. he even got a part time job to help pay future school fees.he graduated in the late 90's and left home first chance he got. he was off to the university of california, content to never speak to any of his estranged family again. though, he would forever regret never making amends with carol. chad would die, never having spoken to his siblings again.

breaking up with luca, meeting peggy and relationship with elliot

right out of university, chad and his boyfriend luca went on a month long tour of france. under the stars one night chad expressed to his boyfriend in a sleepy state he was going to marry him in paris one day. chad didn't remember the following day, and luca did not inform him. it was to be a secret to carry until the day it happened. chad and luca bought their first apartment together in la after returning from france.life fell into an easy pattern for chad. he worked at a local antique shop to pay for design school he was enrolled in. a year and a half into his post university life his mother tried to get back in his, which did not go over well. chad would continue from there still estranged from his entire family.about six months later in july 2005, chad's three year relationship with luca abruptly ended when the night of chad's proposal he found some incriminating texts between his boyfriend and his boyfriends parents. without giving luca the chance to explain chad called off their relationship and fled the apartment. he returned the following day only to collect his things and key his now ex-boyfriends car.

rather quickly chad moved into his own apartment, continuing his school and his job. around this time chad befriended peggy, the two quickly becoming inseparable. a few months later in october 2005, chad met elliot dogra at a local diner well going over some study notes. elliot was there on a blind date, and after an hour or two of watching the scene, it was obvious he was stood up.it was in sympathy chad went to talk to the guy, and it all spiraled from there. it was a few drinks, a few laughs, and they were stumbling outside hours later unable to keep their hands to their selves. quickly chad and the young author fell into a relationship of heart stopping bliss. but it was not meant to last. where elliot saw the man he was going to marry someday, chad only saw a new experience wondering where it could lead. heartbroken they wanted different things in life, elliot and chad parted ways as unlikely friends in september of 2006.

[ PRE CANON ]

meeting patrick, buying the murder house, planning a future together, how everything fell apart

in march of 2007, nearing the end of his schooling, a twenty-five year old chad met patrick in a supermarket. chad had slipped and fallen while trying to grab a jar, landing on his head. patrick was one of the emts that was on scene to take him to the hospital. he was the first person chad laid eyes on from the floor of the supermarket, and he swear those were the most beautiful blue eyes he had ever seen. chad got out of the hospital a day later with the extremely hot emt's phone number.in june of 2007, a twenty-six year old chad graduates with patrick as his boyfriend. and for the first time in a long time, chad finally thought things were going his way. never short on happiness, he knew their was a bright future ahead. patrick moved in with chad finally in april of 2008, and he knew this was the man he was going to marry. it was going to work out this time, it had too.august 2008 patrick and chad purchased the murder house. a happy and excited couple, ready to turn this house around, settle down, get married, have a baby. life was absolutely perfect for some time. they both worked on the house, patrick's paycheck went to expensive, well chads was spent on the renovations. date nights were common, and patrick indulged chad in all his more nerdy activities. the saying goes if something is too good to be true, then it probably is.the perfect life chad had envisioned was threated on november 27th 2009, when he saw the news of the deaths of an entire flight to london heathrow from la. his ex boyfriend elliot dogra was on that plane, and chad knew this because he had been keeping tabs on his career. he was ever so proud of his ex for all the things he had achieved.chad went to the funeral without patrick, all but shutting him out. his depression took over and he would channel more time into the house and work, ignoring patricks attempts at solace. eventually his boyfriend stopped coming after him and would stay out longer in the evening. shortly after chad was forced on time off work for having a mental break down on the job.

during that time off, chad began to see the selfishness he had this whole time in ignoring patrick. he was only trying to help, and all chad did was shut him out. he tried desperately to make amends but it was made clear quickly it was too late. the fighting got worse, and all the qualities patrick used to love about chad began to irritate him. blaming himself for this whole thing, chad would indulge patrick in whatever he wanted ; leading to some nights of barely consented intimacy.unhappiness was the star of chads life. it was more apparent now that patrick had been seeing other men behind chad's back. he had even followed patrick one night to be sure. but with a deep seated fear of being alone, chad would do anything to make him stay. his mood swings would grow worse, thoughts about patrick fluctuating from day to day. some days he loved him, other days he didn't. and even some where he hated that he still loved him. but this was his fault after all in his eyes, he had driven patrick away.chad had confronted peggy about patricks affair but his "friend" insisted patrick was a good guy. patrick had accompanied chad to peggys wedding to her girlfriend shortly after they bought the house. she made her approval of patrick perfectly clear from the beginning. emotionally compromised, chad listened to peggys suggestion of pushing himself outside of his comfort zone to keep a man he was quickly losing.the plan crashed and burned leaving chad broken and ashamed when patrick mocked him. for the first time since elliots death chad cried. he swore that night patrick was never going to hurt him again. he wouldn't let him. the next day when patrick came home, chad informed patrick he could fuck whoever he wanted as long as he didn't kiss and tell.

on october 28th 2011, chad is preparing from the begin halloween open house he was going to to be hosting. patrick seemed to be more interested in fleeing, even after chad unsuccessfully tried to get his boyfriends help. annoyed, chad made a quip about patrick fucking his trainer. this lead to an argument about their crumbling relationship where patrick gaslighted chad about their prior plans.
